P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization that promotes educational opportunities for women.
HOW DOES P.E.O. HELP WOMEN?
Our sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women's lives with six philanthropies that include Cottey College, a women's college with two- and four-year courses of study, and five programs that provide higher educational assistance: P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund, P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, P.E.O. Scholar Awards and P.E.O. STAR Scholarship.A benefit of belonging to a chapter is the sisterly love and support that binds us together in this common effort.

WHAT IS AN UNAFFILIATED MEMBER?
One of the unique and wonderful things about P.E.O. is our unaffiliate reciprocity system. Almost everywhere you go in the US or Canada, there is a P.E.O. chapter close by. This can sometimes be the first contact in a new community and a built-in network of sisters who can help you adjust to your new location and welcome you to your new hometown.
This member who has just moved is referred to as an "unaffiliate" because she no longer lives close enough to attend her own chapter meetings. She is usually listed in her yearbook as a nonresident member.
HOW CAN I BE REINSTATED IF I'M AN INACTIVE P.E.O.?
This is a very simple process and requires no vote from your chapter. All you need to do is write a note to your chapter stating that you wish to have your membership reinstated. Include a check for the $35.00 reinstatement fee made out to your home chapter. The corresponding secretary will then send a notice to International, and the process is complete.
